REGRESSION AND PAST LIFE REGRESSION
As human being we have an innate capacity to regress to earlier mind states and it is wildly accepted that regression is one of our main defence mechanisms. Past experiences can cause physical symptoms, distort our experience of reality and play havoc with our self-esteem and ability to get on with life.
Regression is a hypnotic therapy that allows the individual to replay significant past events in the imagination and in visualising or experiencing them again to re-define the perspective, resolve current problems and undo negative imprinting done at the time.
The therapist in to regress a client will guide them to a trance state which is a gentle process as people drift into memories routinely in their everyday lives, when we become lost in thought, so going back in time in our memories is normal and for us. We not only go in and out of regressed states in the course of our everyday life, we perceive ourselves and our abilities through the lens of these regressed states. Memories are based on subjective perception and can be influenced intentionally or unintentionally over time and might not always be entirely accurate. It would be true to say the memory can play tricks!
When the client is this receptive and resourceful state the therapist will guide the individual back in time to find the initial event that created a particular currant concern to release the negative energy and emotions and reframe the event more positively. People define themselves by their memories and new and positive conclusions about an old event can change feelings about your self dramatically. Past experiences cannot be removed but how we perceive them can be radically challenged and the experience of regression allows a person to ‘work through’ and redefine old memories and reach new and positive conclusions for the present. Before coming out of the trance direct positive suggestions are given to the client and they will have a refreshed take on an old problem and the ability to draw new positive conclusions about old and out of date memories of events.
PAST LIFE REGRESSION THERAPY
This is the experience of yourself as if you were living life as person in another place and time in the past. It is a technique which allows the client to get in touch with repressed material for therapeutic benefit. Past life memories do not have to be real to be effective. Often past life has an emotional reality which can’t be denied and allows for the resolution of presenting issues to take place. Past lives can be understood as symbolic representations of underlying realities. Working through these alleviates the client’s symptoms and changes their experience of life.
A client might in a past life regression be able to access feelings and events that come in to their subconscious mind via memories, pictures and feelings. With the hynotherapist as the facilitator the experience is often rewarding to the client and any material that comes from the regression is evaluated afterwards. Clients often feel that ‘ghosts have been laid’ and a sense of calmness enables them to happily resolve and understand some ‘mysteries’ of their lives so they become more at one with themselves in the future and live the life in the now.
