POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
Although this is a serious condition it is widespread and in the UK 8% of the population will experience this at some time in their lives, hypnosis and complimentary hypnotherapies are proven to be extremely effective.
Post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) is a psychiatric condition that can occur following or experiencing life threatening events such as military combat, natural or human disasters, serious accidents, violent personal assaults as either a child or adult, domestic violence or even severe intimidation.
The condition develops when a person re-lives and not imagines events from the past over and over again as nightmares, flashbacks and frightening thoughts which can result with issues as anxiety, sleep disturbances, depression and anger.
Normally, unpleasant experiences are processed in the brain but in some cases this is not the case and the memory becomes jammed leaving subconscious mind in a state of high alert and constantly in a state of arousal, continually checking the environment until it finds a match which sets off the alarm reaction. If it was an explosion a car back firing would cause the person to experience the initial response all over again.
Treatment includes courses of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotional Freedom Technique EFT, counselling and hypnosis. The therapy is not to make a client relive the past but to either reframe it so that it can be processed in the brain where does not cause the highly sensitive reactions of PTSD or to be able dissociate the memories and let them go and be free of the past trauma.
As a fully qualified EFT Practitioner I have found this therapy to be highly effective with any kind of hurtful or uncomfortable memories from the past along with anger, fear and any unwanted negative feelings that surround trauma sufferers.
What is EFT
In simplest terms EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture that utilizes the body’s energy meridians to release unwanted negative energies. It compliments other therapies such as hypnotherapy and counselling...
EFT is accomplished though “tapping” at the ends of the meridian points while tuning into the offending emotion and clients often experience a reduction of the emotion down to a zero in a few minutes...
EFT can be taught to a client and they can continue to use the technique at home and compound their progress because when you start learning EFT you feel better immediately but lasting benefits come from persistence. EFT is powerful weapon negative emotions, as well as pain and other physical issues.
